Series Wrap-Up: Throne of Glass

Throne of Glass is a series of 7 novels written by Sarah J. Maas. I did a post on the first book, Throne of Glass, a few days back. No, I didn't read the whole series in that time... my blog posting and my reading are not keeping pace. No, I have done only 11 book review posts but I have read 17 of the 100 books on my list - and at the pace I write blog posts, I won't be able to get a review done for every book I read in this 100 book challenge. That being the case, I've decided to do a full review on the first book in any series I read and a series wrap-up for the remainder of the books in that series. That will help to avoid some spoilers for you and it will save some time for me. So, without further ado, the series wrap-up!

The Books

Book 1: Throne of Glass

Book 2: Crown of Midnight

Book 3: Heir of Fire

Book 4: Queen of Shadows

Book 5: Empire of Storms

Book 6: Tower of Dawn

Book 7: Kingdom of Ash

Bonus: Novella (that I haven't read yet but fully intend to, as soon as the library gets it in!)

Assassin's Blade

The Characters

BEWARE: HERE THERE BE SPOILERS (just small ones though)

This is my character map for Throne of Glass - believe it or not, this is the simplified version and no deaths are marked, so no spoilers for that.

I was going to do descriptions for each character, but it was taking FOREVER so instead, enjoy a gallery of fanart. Scroll over each picture to see who it is. Featuring art by morgana0anagrom, taratjah, and merwild.

The World

This is a map of all of the places we see in the Throne of Glass series. Most of it takes place on Erilea, the large continent in the top left corner. In Heir of Fire, we visit Wendlyn and Doranelle, and Tower of Dawn takes place entirely on the Southern Continent. Terrasen is the home of Aelin, Dorian is from Adarlan, and the Wastes belong to the witches. Eyllwe is the home of Nehemia Ytger, Celaena's friend from the first book, and Fenharrow is where Yrene Towers hails from. Much of this map we don't ever actually see, but we hear about it.

Overall Rating

Overall, I give the Throne of Glass series 4 out of 5 stars and 3 spicy peppers. I didn't enjoy every book as much as I wanted to, particularly Tower of Dawn, though the events in that book are important so you should still read it. You could read it in tandem with Empire of Storms as the events are concurrent, which might be a more enjoyable experience (in my opinion). Despite that, I devoured this series and I really did love it. The characters, the world building, the plot, the plot twists and reveals - everything was really fun and engaging. I would recommend this series for anyone over 15 (minimum!!! Seriously, it gets freaky). The first two books are more appropriate (read: don't contain as much sex) but the further along you get the spicier it gets.

Well, that's all folks! I hope you enjoyed my series wrap-up of Sarah J. Maas' Throne of Glass! Let me know in the comments if you have read or plan to read these books!
